Starting a Wordpress blog is easier than you think
If you’re just getting started in blogging it can be very confusing. You know you want your own website but you’re not sure how to go about getting it all set up. As easy as Wordpress is to use, it still takes a lot of work to learn how to do everything. And setting a blog up from scratch can be even more of a head ache. You keep asking yourself…Where do I start? What do I do first? What plug-ins do I need? Wait, don’t give up yet!
Have a blog with your own domain name
If you are considering having a professional or money making blog, getting your own domain name and having a professional installation is a key to long term success. There is no other blogging system that gives you the number of useful and money making features that are available from Wordpress.
The Reason most people use a free blogging service is that they don’t have the technical skills to do an installation (not to mention that many other tweaks and setup steps involved) to properly setup and configure Wordpress. Most bloggers just want to blog, and get on with making money!
I’ll install Wordpress and get you set-up for free
That’s right! I’ll install Wordpress for free. Plus I’ll install a selection of plug-ins that I know work (and I use myself) so that you don’t have that hassle either.
- Install the latest version of Wordpress
- Create a professional you@yoursite.com email address for you to use to promote your blog.
- Install a robots.txt file to protect your site’s admin area from search engine spiders.
- Setup your permalinks to improve the search engine profile of your site.
- Configure spam protection to prevent comment spam.
- Install the theme of your choice. Either one that’s available on this site or any other theme you may already have.
- Setup a basic contact page with email form.
- Install my Top 20 plugins. Click Here to see the list.
That’s awesome, but how can you do it for free?
All you need to do is sign up for webhosting with Hostgator through my affiliate link. I get paid an affiliate fee for referring from Hostgator, you get a free Wordpress installation and Hostgator gets a new customer. Everybody wins.
That sounds great but how do I get started…
First of all if you don’t already have one you’ll need a domain name. I recommend Godaddy for domain name registration. If you already have a domain name registered that’s great. Hostgator has videos on changing the DNS settings to your new hosting account. If changing the DNS is too much for you, let me know and I’ll help you out there too.
The next step is to go to the sign-up page and get started.
Hang on a minute. I’ve got a couple of questions…
